SPIRIT BEAR
PROTECTION OF HABITAT
Princess Royal Island has a 10,000 year old forest, which is
home to this very rare
Canadian Kermode bear. On 4th. April 2001,
a very remarkable
event took place.
The provincial government announced the ban on logging in
the entire Great Bear Rainforest.
All sides have agreed to this new plan. This area will be protected,
which includes the habitat
of the Spirit Bear. I want to help in my own way. I will be donating
open edition prints for
the protection of the 'Spirit Bear". I wish to help in
creating a
sanctuary on
Princess Royal Island, where all wildlife, including the Spirit Bear
are able to run free as they
have done for thousands of years and evolve with no interference
from mankind. The isolation
of this location together with the rugged landscape makes this
dream achievable. It would be the
only place on earth which would be out of bounds for ALL mankind.
UPDATE
the moratorium
has been extended
