"Spirit from the Past" by Judi Wild
This is the
fourth in a series of 7.
"I used antique black & white photos dating back as far
as 1901 for part of my reference material". This
ornate interior pole has a carved doorway at the base. Because
there was a chief carved at the top of the pole signifying the
importance of this house owner, I chose to paint the face of Tom
Price (last Chief of Ninstints) in the carved doorway. It was one
of the first to be reclaimed by the earth because its base was
compromised. There is only one detailed black & white photo of this monumental pole that we know of - taken in
1913.
